ABOUT STATIC ARCHIVES

Static Archives are archives produced by archives creators that possess historical value, have reached the end of their retention period, and are designated for permanent preservation after being verified directly or indirectly by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia and/or archival institutions.

The Static Archives managed by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia consist of historically valuable archives transferred by Archives Creators, including Ministries, Agencies, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Community Organizations, Political Organizations, and Individuals.

The management of Static Archives undergoes several stages to ensure public accessibility, including Archives Acquisition, Archives Processing, Archives Preservation, and Archives Access and Utilization Services.

To preserve the context of their creation, Static Archives are managed based on the Principle of Provenance and the Principle of Original Order.

The Principle of Provenance is a principle applied to ensure that archives remain managed as a single body belonging to one archives creator (provenance) without being mixed with archives from other creators, in order to preserve their original context.

The Principle of Original Order is a principle applied to ensure that archives remain arranged according to their original order or according to the order in which the archives were used for the archives creator’s activities.

Visitors who want to access Static Archives information may visit the Archives Service Room on the 1st floor of Building A, National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, Jl. Ampera Raya No. 7, South Jakarta, on working days from 08:30 to 15:00 WIB.
